Echmiadzin

Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the worldwide Armenian Apostolic Church. The name Echmiadzin ''means came the only born''. The church was built in 303 after adopting Christianity in 301. According to the legend Jesus showed the place of the church hitting with a golden hummer in a place where the church stands today. Echmiadzin holds a unique position in Armenian and non-Armenian architecture history, because it reproduces the features of the Armenian arcitechture. Today it "incorporates more than one style of architecture".
